Question #1:
I have had guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, turtles, rabbits, cats, chickens, a parakeet, horses/ponies, and I currently have a dog. A golden Retriever to be exact. Chinchillas and hedgehogs are not an option for me and I dont like reptiles. Thanks for the help:)
okfgujhgfjhj
Actually the cat, hamster, pony, and dog are still alive. The bird got sick and had lung problems we believe. He weezed. The guinea pigs i had when i was 4 and 6. The turtle we found in a pond and he was little we out him in the pond we had at our house and he was eaten by something. The fish werent really mine they were my parents i just have had experience with them..so dont think they all died cause of lack of care.
Question #2:
I'm just curious because names have *always* fascinated me. You are welcome to include past pets as well as present pets; I'm interested in how they are named. I've had pets of my own since I was 5 years old, so I've had numerous pets over those years.
I have a 15-year-old female calico cat (Faile) and twin 1-1/2-year-old female gray-torties (Desiree and Pixie) whom I adopted from a feral litter as kittens and hand-tamed.
I had a beautiful black female Chantilly/Tiffany named Xanetia, who died nearly 2 years ago of lymphoma at the age of 12 years; a black female Maine Coon-mix with extra toes (Tasslehoff) who was struck by a car and killed at only 2 or 3 years old (my cats are indoor-only now); a female gray-and-white cat named Bengalo who was only 5 years old when she died of congestive heart failure; a male lynx point Siamese/Maine coon mix named Tanis who died of leukemia at 2 years; a female English black named Cinder who lived a good, long life; and a male gray-and-white (Cinder's son) named Gravy who also lived a long, healthy life.
I also had anoles (Sid, Johnny, and Scrapper), garter snakes (Dirk McGirk, Fishbreath, and Einstein), parakeets (David and Danny), a swift (Dino), and a golden retriever/Irish setter mix (Patches). I can't remember what I named my snail and all my guppies and fighting betas.
These are awesome answers, thank you to all who responded. The creativity and fun that goes into naming show a bit of how much we truly love our pets. Because it is impossible for me to choose a "best" answer, I am putting this to a vote instead.
Question #3:

Question #4:
I have a mature female budgie who is mostly white, with some blue patches about her. The other day, I noticed that the feathers atop her head are starting to turn a golden color.
Information:
She bathes in her bath water nearly everyday.
I change their water and their bath water daily.
I keep their cage clean.
They have been on their current food for several months.
I got them when they were a year and a half old and I've had them for four years.
She lives in her cage with a male budgie.
She has had no change in behavior and there seems to be nothing different about her except for her feathers changing color.
Please help, I'm slightly worried.
Question #5:
The Old Australian Ways
The London lights are far abeam
Behind a bank of cloud,
Along the shore the gaslights gleam,
The gale is piping loud;
And down the Channel, groping blind,
We drive her through the haze
Towards the land we left behind --
The good old land of `never mind',
And old Australian ways.
The narrow ways of English folk
Are not for such as we;
They bear the long-accustomed yoke
Of staid conservancy:
But all our roads are new and strange,
And through our blood there runs
The vagabonding love of change
That drove us westward of the range
And westward of the suns.
The city folk go to and fro
Behind a prison's bars,
They never feel the breezes blow
And never see the stars;
They never hear in blossomed trees
The music low and sweet
Of wild birds making melodies,
Nor catch the little laughing breeze
That whispers in the wheat.
Our fathers came of roving stock
That could not fixed abide:
And we have followed field and flock
Since e'er we learnt to ride;
By miner's camp and shearing shed,
In land of heat and drought,
We followed where our fortunes led,
With fortune always on ahead
And always further out.
The wind is in the barley-grass,
The wattles are in bloom;
The breezes greet us as they pass
With honey-sweet perfume;
The parakeets go screaming by
With flash of golden wing,
And from the swamp the wild-ducks cry
Their long-drawn note of revelry,
Rejoicing at the Spring.
So throw the weary pen aside
And let the papers rest,
For we must saddle up and ride
Towards the blue hill's breast;
And we must travel far and fast
Across their rugged maze,
To find the Spring of Youth at last,
And call back from the buried past
The old Australian ways.
When Clancy took the drover's track
In years of long ago,
He drifted to the outer back
Beyond the Overflow;
By rolling plain and rocky shelf,
With stockwhip in his hand,
He reached at last, oh lucky elf,
The Town of Come-and-help-yourself
In Rough-and-ready Land.
And if it be that you would know
The tracks he used to ride,
Then you must saddle up and go
Beyond the Queensland side --
Beyond the reach of rule or law,
To ride the long day through,
In Nature's homestead -- filled with awe
You then might see what Clancy saw
And know what Clancy knew.
Question #6:
he just gets a allergy reaction to a parakeet. wil he react to a golden retriever??
Question #7:
NOT that this will happen hopefully but i just saw life after people and i was wondering would my dog [ a golden retrieve named buddy who weighs 64 lbs.] and would my parakeets be able to escape fro their cage which just has a lift top door if they wanted to and would pekin ducks be able to fly or r they to heavy because im getting 3 baby ducklings and they will be my pets for a long time until they dye of age. And my dog buddy would he be able to jump a 6 ft foot fence if he wanted to and he has his dog house to propell him self of of his dog house which is about 3 feet tall, and he himslef is 2 feet tall???? and he has good sense of smell, runs rlly fats nad can hunt would he survive well?? AND THIS IS JUST A RANDOM QUESTION I LOVE MY DOG VERY MUCH AND I HOPE THIS WONT HAPPEN.
listen i am not retarded, im just a 13 year old who saw population zero and life after people and just wants yo know would my pets survive if something happened like that. the dog probably could dig his-way out like 1 of my comments said but the space is rather small, but h can get half his body through it if he goes in sideways, im not sure if he can go in fully because we fix his little disasters but i know ducks can fly but im not sure about pekin ducks, and my parakeets are intelligent and i think they could open a flip door cage and their r 3 of them in a large cage but answer my question plz. im just worried that this could possibly happen because us humans are killing our planet and ourselves
Question #8:
I just got two new parakeets. They are both young, one is a boy, one is a girl. My first question is the girl is taller than the boy is that normal? I assume its because she is probobly older. If she is older than him can they still mate and lay eggs? Also i read that if the boy jumps on the girl and pecks at her they are mating. What does it mean if the girl jumps on the boy and pecks at him? Also i read twist ties are good toys for them. Is this true? Also i have a 5 year old golden retriever and he is huge. Can i let them out or will he eat them? Please answer my questions. Thank you!!

Question #11:
My mother bought a Golden-Mantled male Rosella about 4 years ago. He has always been very shy, he makes a fair amount of noise but was never tame. He never lets anyone go near him.
Recently I adopted him from her. I would like him to become tame and be able to hold him ect but he doesn't seem to trust anyone. He has known me since my mother bought him but is still very shy.
I let him out of his cage sometimes, I understand this is not always advised with birds that aren't tamed but I don't think it'd be fair to keep him in his cage all the time just because he's shy and he does go back in when he gets hungry or thirsty.
When he comes out of his cage he stays well away from me and when I need to catch him it's always a lot of trouble.
I always talk to him for hours, he has plenty of toys, a nice sized cage, plenty of food and water, I play him music and try my best to make him feel as safe as possible but he still doesn't trust me. I've researched hours on end to try and find a way to tame him, or gain his trust but there isn't a lot of information on bird this old.
He has a cheeky personality, he's very amusing at times. He loves to wake me up at 8am with his "Look at me!" tune, and he is completely adorable.
Unfortunately i'm not a bird expert. I know it was a mistake for my mother to buy this bird as she hadn't researched enough about him, but I love him to bits and wouldn't trade him for the world.
Is there any way for me to hand tame him or is it too late?
Thank you in advance :]
Question #12:
American Golden, Emperor Dragon, Chimpanzee, Brown Cow, Love Monkey, Parakeet, Canary, Groundhog, Hedgehog, Rotweiler, Languar, Rottweiler, Grey Owl, and Key Lime Dino
Question #13:
I include this in the poetry section as this is where all of my friends are.
The Ravens are back. Not since two seasons ago
have they strutted in my garden as if they owned
all they surveyed.
One has taken to soaking a piece of dry hard bread
in my birdbath. It floats like some abandoned
Coracle until, saturated with water, it drifts like a
miniature Sargasso Sea, buffeted by a wash caused
by the Parakeets having flown in for their early
morning ablutions.
I notice the Raven perched in a nearby Gum Tree
softly singing to itself as it waits its turn at the bath.
It would be no effort for it fly down and scatter the
bathers. No, it waits patiently until they have all finished.
I have discovered that there is wisdom in its patience.
The bathers while they flap about break up the now soft bread
into bite sized pieces. What a clever bird the Raven is.
The younger birds, as children are want at bath time, test the
water with their toes to see that it is not to cold or to hot. Then
before you know it, all are slashing about sending up sun
kissed drops of water, each gem perfect in shape and color.
Liquid opals sent cascading onto the velvet petals of Pansies
and Tiger Lilies. Nature’s showcase of precious gems.
I have noticed an endless line of ants coming from
somewhere deep within the gardens greenery. How clever
they are, to choose the fallen branch from an overhanging
Gum tree as a pathway to the birdbath, where they make their
way up the steep climb to vanish between the bowl and its stand.
Sometime this summer they will come to the edge of the bath
in their hundreds, when the winged females will launch
themselves into the air to seek out new places to start their
own colonies.
A large Hornet, dressed in its orange and black striped
finery buzzes around my head before settling to drink at the
waters edge. She does not drink for long, just long enough
to satisfy her thirst. then flying down to the ground she will
mix the wet soil into a ball of mud, and carry it of to some
access within the walls of my home. I often hear her buzzing
as she molds each pea size piece of mud into a tubular nursery
for her solitary egg. Before laying her egg and sealing off the
entrance. She will paralyze two or three insects with her sting
and place them in the nursery; a waiting meal for the newly
hatched grub. What a thoughtful mother she is.
All is peaceful in my beautiful garden, even the large Golden
Orb spider, as big as the palm of my hand holds no fears
for me. She sits in the center of her golden web which gently
moves as the morning breeze brings the scent of the Mock
Orange to my nose. Something heavy moves across my bare
foot; a Blue Tongue Lizard stops for a while as if soaking up
the warmth of my foot. Its purplish blue tongue flicks in and out
tasting the air. Smooth as a guided missile it lumbers off
and disappears into the a clump of Comfrey.
The Raven flies down from her perch, impatient at the Noisy Minors taking so long in the Bird Bath. Her bread so lovingly placed in the water has all sunk to the bottom. Not to miss out on her breakfast she dips her head time and time again. Flying off with a noisy Kaa Kaa she leaves me to change the water.
How fortunate a man I am to have such miracles in my garden.
Thank you for the correction "foggisan".
Question #14:
I have a male, he has a little lines going from his cere to the back of his head. However, from the start of his cere the lines are very faded until about a cent. and then the lines become very heavy again. He has a golden/yellw ring on his eyes.
I also have a female, she is solid yellow though. So she has no stripes or nothing else like that. Her eyes are solid black from what I can tell.
Can anyone tell what age they are? Thanks.
Also, why is it so bad to breed them at 6 months of age?? Eveyone says this but has no information to back it up with. Besides "Health Issues". If someone could tell me why they cant breed until 6 months that would be great too. Thanks!
